pcAnywhere is designed to let one computer control another computer. It works on anything from Windows 95 to Windows Vista, Mac OS X, and even Linux. It supports both 32-bit and 64-bit. The main target is businesses that need remote access to computer, such as a helpdesk or a someone that telecommutes and wants to be able to access files and intranets remotely.

Help desks can install a thin version of it on a remote computer easily. And with 'host invitation', it can get through firewalls by connecting from the host instead of the remote computer.

It works even without an internet connection...it can use a modem to dial and connect to other computers, so you can diagnose connectivity issues with broadband. The connection is encrypted, so that no one can spy on the connection. So if you work from insecure locations, don't worry, just connect to your laptop, or run the client software from the CD or thumbdrive, to access your workplace's intranet safely and securely.

But sometimes you're not at a computer, at all. Sometimes you just have a PDA with you. That's okay, the client software can work on Pocket PCs, so you can connect, control, and copy files from other computers.
